Coronavirus: Chinese national admitted at Tirupati Ruia hospital

Tirupati: A Chinese national has been admitted in the isolation ward at the S.V.R. Ruia Government General hospital in Tirupati on Saturday, after he showed symptoms of coronavirus. According to health officials, he had been suffering from cough and sore throat.

The 35-year-old Chinese citizen is identified as Chen Shih Shun, a resident of Taiwan in China. Swabs from the patient, who is under observation, were sent to a laboratory located in Secunderabad. Lab results are awaited.

District Medical and Health Officer (DMHO) Dr. M. Penchalaiah had confirmed that the Chinese national has been staying in the district for the last ten days and had visited the hospital on Saturday evening after he started experiencing cough with a sore throat.

"The doctors kept him under observation after seeing the symptoms as part of the preventive measure at the special isolation ward in Ruia Hospital. Samples were collected from him and have been sent for the laboratory tests," added Dr Penchalaiah.

The DMHO also said that they can confirm whether he was infected by the virus or not only after obtaining result from the lab. The Chinese national had reportedly come to Chittoor district for installing some machines at a renowned private factory.
