Coronavirus in Andhra: 50 new COVID-19 cases, one death

Visakhapatnam: The total number of Covid-19 cases in Andhra Pradesh rose to 1,980 after 50 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours, out of which 925 have recovered and discharged, while 45 have died with one more Covid-19 death reported in the last 24 hours, the state health department said on Sunday.

With the latest updates, Kurnool, Guntur and Krishna districts continued to be the major hotbeds in the state. Kurnool contributed 13 out of the 50 fresh cases reported in the state.

Chittoor district reported 16 cases and 5 cases each were reported from Anantapur and Nellore districts while Guntur district reported six cases.

Kadapa, Visakhapatnam and Krishna districts registered one case each while Prakasam district reported two cases.

On Sunday, the worst-hit Kurnool district reported one more Covid-19 death and the district so far registered 16 Covid-19 deaths, highest in the state followed by Krishna district with 13 deaths.

Guntur occupied the third position with 8 eight deaths and Anantapur reported 4 deaths. Nellore district reported 3 deaths and Vizag city reported one death in the state.

According to the medical bulletin, 8,666 samples were tested in the past 24 hours in the state and 50 samples tested positive for Covid-19. In the last 24 hours, 38 patients recovered and were discharged from the hospitals leaving the active Covid-19 cases at 1,010.

With 566 Covid-19 cases, Kurnool district was top in the state followed by Guntur district at 382 cases and Krishna district at 339 cases.

On Sunday, Anantapur, Chittoor and Nellore districts crossed 100 cases with 107, 112 and 101 Covid-19 cases respectively.
