Coronavirus: Khammam doctor donates 6,000 masks, vegetables, homeopathic pills

Hyderabad: With over 1,000 people infected by the Corona virus in the country, 67 of them in Telangana, people have been doing their bit in this fight against the pandemic. One such kind soul is a doctor from Khammam who is distributing masks, vegetables, and homeopathy pills to students and local people.

Dr Dayanand Vijay Kumar from Satupally, who is also a member of the Disha committee, started distributing masks around six days ago. So far, he has given away more than 6,000 masks to the local people, passersby, and those travelling to their native palaces. The masks are made of cotton are hand-stitched. Each mask costs about Rs. 8-9.

The doctor also distributes vegetables to over 500 families in 23 wards under Satupally Mandal. every day. Besides these, Dr Dayanand has also distributed homeopathy pills to over 10,000 pre-primary, primary, secondary, and higher secondary students. These pills are meant to boost the immunity of the students. The doctor started distributing the pills a month ago. He also made health cards for the poor which will allow them to avail of any treatment for free. He has conducted over 25,000 eye operations at his hospital, Asha, in association with Kiran Eye Institute in Kakinada.

Speaking to NewsMeter about his work, Dr Dayanand said, "All these works have been done under the leadership of our Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao and IT minister KTR. We are going through a tough time amid this global pandemic. I request everyone to help in any way they can in their respective areas."
