Coronavirus Live Update: 15 new Tablighi Jamaat participants from Telangana test positive

Hyderabad: Fifteen new Corona-positive cases were reported in Telangana on 31 March. All 15 are people who recently returned from Delhi's Nizamuddin Markaz where they were attending religious prayers and their relatives. The total number of COVID-19 cases in the state has now reached 77.

Earlier, six people who had participated in the religious congregation had tested positive and died.

"People who returned from Markaz and their relatives, 15 in total, tested positive for Corona virus. At present, there are 77 active cases in the state and they are being treated at different hospitals," state health minister Eatala Rajender said.

All those who have returned from Markaz are requested to report to Gandhi Hospital for tests, he said, adding, all the people and their family members should get themselves tested if they show any symptoms of Corona virus.

People who have to get dialysis, suffer from Thalassemia and sickle cell are allowed to travel and the police have been instructed to not stop them, the minister said. "Pregnant women need not worry as mother and child care centres are functioning. The government is taking preventive measures to control the spread of Corona virus. We request people to stay at home and cooperate with us," he said.
