Coronavirus: Telangana health department hiring doctors, medical professionals

Hyderabad: The Telangana health department, on 30 March, announced openings for doctors, nurses, and other medical staff to form a pool of health professionals who will work during the COVID-19 outbreak.

The health ministry in its order said even retired health professionals can apply. The last date of application is 3 April. Though the health ministry said other details like remuneration payable and empanelment will be available on http://health.telangana.gov.in/ , right now the website displays a message that says it is under service.

Hence, there is no information about how much these doctors, nurses, and medical staff will be paid. In the statement, the government said, “Applications are invited for medical professionals, i.e. doctors, nurses, and lab technicians (including retired medical professionals) for development on a contract basis by the department of health and family welfare, government of Telangana.”

On Monday morning there were complaints that the URL for the application form is not responding, but later the problem was resolved.

As of 30 March, 67 people have tested positive for Corona virus and one death has been reported in the state. Telangana is under complete lockdown with only essential services running from 6 a.m to 7 p.m. Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, on Sunday, had announced that Telangana will be Corona-free by 7 April..

Apart from pooling doctors, Gachibowli stadium has been turned into an isolation facility with 1,500 beds.
