Coronavirus: Two buildings in Hyderabad’s IT hub Mindspace closed

Hyderabad: City’s IT hub Mindspace is evacuating employees after a suspected case of Coronavirus was reported in one of the companies in the IT park. Block B and Block C in Mindspace have further closed down for the day, after the alert. An IT employee who has been working for DSM in Building No.20 at Raheja Mindspace at Hyderabad has been suspected for coronavirus.

Reportedly, there are around 8,000 employees working for over 80-90 companies in Mindspace. On Wednesday morning, the employees of DSM had received a mail from the company regarding one of its employees being tested corona positive. However, nodal officer to Coronavirus G Sreeniwas Rao later clarified that the employee is only a suspected case of coronavirus and her sample has been sent to Pune Virology department.

The techie has a travel history from Italy. She was self-reported after having symptoms of COVID19.

Telangana IT Employees Association President, Sandeep told NewsMeter, “We have evacuated all the three blocks in Mindspace. Cleansing is done in all the floors. We have requested all companies to give their employees a work at home option. Free masks are being distributed to all employees and also we conducted an awareness camp before all employees left to their homes.”

The DSM buildings in Mindspace and Brightspace have been reportedly closed for cleaning purposes.

The employee is being treated in isolation ward at Gandhi hospital.

According to one the employees at DSM, the patient had attended meetings at office that day, and doctors are advising to keep the entire team under isolation.
