Couple commits suicide in Vizag; illicit affair suspected

In the first incident, 28- year-old B Gowri Naidu hanged himself in his bedroom in the morning. Naidu had allegedly taken the extreme step following a tiff with his wife and family members. Naidu got married to Sunitha in April 2018 and he was a small-time civil works contractor.

As the sudden news of Naidu's demise spread in the village. R Shyamala (22) also hanged herself from a ceiling fan in her bedroom on Thursday. She had married a man from Rajahmundry three months ago. The timing of Naidu's and Shyamala's death remains a big puzzle among the villages.

People known to both the victims suspected that they might have had an affair that led to marital disputes in both the families which resulted in a tragic ending. Sub-Inspector of Police D Venkanna said that they have registered a case and an investigation is on to expose the reasons behind the deaths. The family members of both said that Naidu and Shyamala died of ill-health, the police officer said.
