COVID-19:  Andhra reports 57 new cases, tally jumps to 2157

Vijayawada: The number of Covid-19 cases linked to the Koyambedu market in Chennai continues to be on the rise in Andhra Pradesh.

Of the 57 new cases reported in the last 24 hours, 28 had visited the Koyambedu market.

With 57 new COVID-19 positive cases, the overall tally in Andhra Pradesh has jumped to 2, 157. Fortunately, there were no new COVID-19 deaths on Friday. So far 48 people have died of coronavirus in the state.

Of the 28 COVID-19 cases linked to Koyambedu Market, 13 are from Chittoor and 8 from Nellore and 5 from Kurnool district. Kadapa and Anantapur districts reported one case each.

On the brighter side, the number of people discharged stands at 1,252. In the last 24 hours, 560 people were discharged after recovery. Now the active COVID-19 cases in the state stand at 857.

A total of 9,038 samples were tested in the last 24 hours.

Kurnool district has the highest number of 599 cases in the state. Guntur has 404 cases, while Krishna district has 360 cases.

So far, Kurnool district reported 18 COVID-19 deaths followed by Krishna district with 14 deaths and Guntur district with 8 deaths. Anantapur district reported 4 COVID-19 deaths and Nellore district reported 3 deaths. Vizag district reported one death.
