Special chief secretary (health), K.S. Jawahar Reddy said that they have started “pool testing” samples of suspected coronavirus patients. The pool testing process involves testing multiple swab samples in a single test.
If the combined sample tests positive for COVID-19, the samples are then tested individually to determine who has the virus. If the combined sample tests negative, there would be no need to test individually. Five samples per testing kit are used so that around 25 kits are being used for testing 100 samples, he added.
