COVID-19 cases mount to 65 in Telangana, one death

Hyderabad: The total number of COVID-19 positive cases in Telangana mounted to 65, as of March 28. Six new positive cases were recorded on Saturday alone. Health Minister Etela Rajender also confirmed the first death due to corona in the state. A 74-year-old man from Khairatabad is the first death recorded.

The victim had gone to Delhi for religious practice on March 14 and had come back to the city on March 17. Following his return, the man complained of an eye infection and had gone to an eye hospital at Langar Houz for check-up. On March 20, he was rushed to a private Hospital in Saifabad and had high fever with respiratory illness. The hospital then gave him a nebulizer but couldn't save him as he breathed his last on Thursday night. He was then rushed to a corporate Hospital where he was declared brought dead.

Meanwhile, four airport screening staff were also tested to be positive for COVID-19 on March 28. A family member related to one among these four patients has also tested positive.

In addition to this, six members from one family in Old City tested positive. The minister also said a family of four from Qutbullapur have also tested positive.

Meanwhile, 10 out of the 65 people who were positive cases were tested negative in their later test. Their samples have been sent for the final test.
