COVID-19: Half of Andhra Pradesh Govt staff to work from home

Vijayawada: In the wake of coronavirus outbreak, the Andhra Pradesh government has ordered 50 percent of its government officers to work from home till April 4, 2020. While some officers are asked to work on alternate weeks, retired officers above the age of 60, who were working as advisors, chairpersons and consultants are asked to work from home.

Officers who are above 50 years of age and are suffering from conditions like diabetes, respiratory problems, Renal diseases and other life-threatening illness can house quarantine themselves till April 4, 2020. It will be a medical leave for such officers if they submit medical certificates to the competent authority.

The 50 percent of employees who will be attending the office will be divided in three shifts so as to avoid overcrowding in the office. According to the statement issued by government the three shifts are from:

i)9.30 AM to 4.30P M ii) 10.00 AM to 5 PM iii)10.30 AM to 5.30 PM

In the secretariat office, all the Sectional and Assistant Sectional officers and some below cadre officers will be working on alternate weeks. Apart from them, the Head of Departments and Non-gazetted officers will also be working from home.

The contract and outsourced employees of the AP government can also avail work from home, stated the government gazette.

The officers working from home should be available for telephonic conversation or any other electronic communication, ordered the state. They should also mark their attendance through e-office.

As only 50 percent of the staff are working, the government has said that it will not take any grievance petitions.
