COVID-19 scare: Tension grips AS Rao Nagar after locals objected to guests from Karnataka

Hyderabad: Tension gripped a small residential locality at AS Rao Nagar in Hyderabad, after locals raised alarm about the guests at the wedding reception.

On Thursday night, a group of guests had come from Kalaburagi district on the Telangana-Karnataka border, to attend the reception.

A few locals noticed the KSRTC bus parked outside the reception area and inquired about the guests. Immediately the news spread that the guests are from Karnataka.

Locals in big numbers gathered outside the reception area and demanded that the guests from Karnataka should leave the place immediately. Locals were concerned about the fact that the first coronavirus death was reported from that district.

Though the organizers explained that all the guests had no symptoms, locals were not convinced and demanded that they leave the place immediately.

Police officials along with teams from Health and Revenue departments rushed to the spot. All the people who had come from outside the city were tested for corona symptoms. After making sure that they were not infected with the virus, the situation was brought under control.
