COVID 19: Telangana crosses 1 lakh test per million population, 1,554 fresh cases on Thursday

Hyderabad: The government tested 43,916 citizens for the virus on Thursday. So far 37,46,963 samples have been tested in the state. Samples tested per million population stand at 1,00,670.

Still, 831 reports are awaited. 19,323 primary contacts are tested on Thursday while 5,270 secondary contacts are tested.

Telangana reported 1,554 new COVID cases on Thursday taking the overall tally to 2,19,224 in the state.

Seven new deaths are reported on October 15 taking the total tally to 1,256. The fatality rate in the state is 0.57 per cent which is less than the national average of 1.5 per cent.

The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation area reported 249 new cases while Rangareddy reported 128 new cases. Districts of Telangana is seeing the increase in cases. Medchal Malkajigiri reported 118 new cases while Khammam reported 88 new cases.

Around 1,435 citizens recovered from the infection on Thursday taking the tally of total recoveries to 1,94,653. The recovery rate, as per the government now stands at 88.79 per cent, which approximately one per cent higher than the national average of 87.5 per cent.

The state currently has 23,203 active cases. Of the total active cases, 19,251 are under home isolation.

Of total positive cases, 70 per cent are asymptomatic with no severe signs of distress while 30 per cent are symptomatic.

According to the state, men aged between 21 and 40 years contribute to 29.98 per cent of the total cases. Women aged between 21 and 30 years contribute to 8.85 per cent of the total cases.

The deaths due to comorbidities have risen to 55.04 per cent. 44.96 per cent of victims had no comorbidities.
