COVID-19: Two employees of Gandhi Hospital, family test positive

Hyderabad: Two officials working in the Gandhi Hospital superintendent's office tested positive for COVID-19 on 26 June. Their family members have also tested positive. Meanwhile, two others - a nurse and another fourth-class employee of the hospital - have tested positive for the virus.

With this, the number of cases reported in Gandhi hospital has reached five. A couple of days ago, a security guard working at the hospital had tested positive after his death. The number of positive cases at Gandhi Hospital is expected to increase following the detection of new cases among its staff.

Gandhi Hospital, the nodal center for COVID-19 in Telangana, has been treating patients from all over the state and till a few days ago had not reported any positive cases among its doctors and employees. Meanwhile, there had been several cases of staff members testing positive at Osmania General Hospital, the government hospital at Koti, NIMS, and other tertiary hospitals. Cases at these hospitals were rising at an alarming rate, triggering panic among the frontline staff.

Despite attacks on staff members, unruly behaviour of relatives of patients, and allegations of negligence, Gandhi Hospital has been successfully treating COVID-19 patients and many have already recovered.
