Cow injured after accidentally eating bomb laid by hunters in Chittoor

Hyderabad: A cow was injured after a bomb exploded in its mouth in Kogileu village in Andhra's Chittoor district on 28 June. A video shows the animal bleeding profusely with a portion of its mouth hanging open. The Peddapanjali police have lodged an FIR and started an investigation. No arrests have been made yet.

According to the police, the cow belongs to Sri Jalakanteshwara Gau Peetam. Arjuna Reddy, an employee at Peetam, said the cow was grazing in the forest, around one-and-a-half km from the Peetam, on Sunday evening when it reportedly ate the bomb and it exploded in its mouth. The cow was in excruciating pain and bleeding. The villagers tied the mouth of the cow with a rope and took the animal to a veterinary hospital in Tirupati the next day. The police said some hunters had planted bombs for wild animals like wild boars but the cow accidentally ate it.

Last month, a pregnant female elephant had died in Kerala after eating a cracker-filled fruit. Following the incident, a cow in Himachal Pradesh was fed firecrackers wrapped in wheat flour. The Kerala incident had triggered outrage from several sections of the society.
