Hyderabad: Hours after a man was kidnapped in full public view in Hyderabad late on Thursday, the city police rescued him from the clutches of the abductors. A call from the victim's friend gave the cops the headway to solve the crime.

Sources said victim Raji Reddy, who works as a contractor, and his friend Narender had been to Koti for some work. As the two stood on a roadside, a car zoomed towards them and a group of men came out. The gang pushed away Narender and bundled Raji into the vehicle and fled the spot within seconds.

Narender immediately dialled 100 and informed the police control room about the incident. With the help of the clues shared by Narender and technical details, the police tracked down the kidnappers and rescued Raji, a resident of Ramanthapur, by midnight.

The kidnapping is believed to be the fallout of some business issues and financial transactions. The kidnappers are being questioned.
