Hajipur rape victims family demand justice on the lines of Disha case

HYDERABAD: The family members of the three victims, who were raped and murdered by accused Marri Srinivas Reddy at Hajipur in Bommalaramaram village on the city suburbs, demanded a similar punishment that was given to Disha’s killers. Reportedly, Marri Srinivas raped and killed three girls between 12 and 17 years of age, at Hajipur in Bommalaramaram village on Hyderabad’s suburbs. Police arrested him in June, and he has been lodged in Warangal prison since then.

The family members submitted a memorandum to Telangana Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan here on Monday under the aegis of Telangana State Backward Classes Welfare Association. The relatives welcomed the “punishment” given to Disha’s alleged rapists by the Cyberabad police at Chatanpally village in Shadnagar on December 6. The four deceased men had allegedly raped and murdered the Hyderabad veterinarian on November 28.

“We are requesting a similar punishment that was given to veterinarian’s killers to Reddy,” one of the victim’s family member urged. “Reddy should also be killed in an encounter, instead of lodging him in prison, as he had killed three innocent girls.” The family members brought to the notice of the Governor the problems they were facing due to non-availability of transport facility.

Association President J Srinivas Goud, who accompanied the victims’ families to the Governor’s office, said the accused were committing rapes and murders after consuming liquor. He requested to use the Governor’s good offices in preventing the sale of liquor in a phased manner.

Goud said Reddy should get capital punishment for the heinous crimes he had committed since 2015, and demanded ex-gratia to the families of the victims
