Visakhapatnam: Representatives of various Dalit organisations, led by S.V Ramana, demanded the arrest of N. Nutan Naidu of the Big Boss fame alleging he was the mastermind behind the incident where a 20-year-old Dalit youth was assaulted and tonsured.
This comes a day after seven persons, including Nutan Naidu's wife N. Priya Madhuri, were arrested in connection with the incident where a Dalit youth, P. Srikanth, was assaulted and his head tonsured at Nutan Naidu's house in Vizag's Pendurthi area.
While the Vizag police commissioner, Manish Kumar Sinha, said investigation is underway to ascertain Nutan Naidu's role, S.V Ramana said Naidu's family members were involved in the incident and acted under his directions.
Meanwhile, the Pendurthi MLA and YSRCP leader, A. Adeep Raju, said the Vizag police acted swiftly and arrested seven people within hours of the incident. Under the YS Jagan Mohan Reddy government, immediate action will be taken in cases of atrocities against SCs and STs, the MLA added.
He said TDP and Janasena were silent over the issue as the film director Nutan Naidu was closely associated to both the parties. TDP has been trying to politicise the issue by making false allegations that Nutan Naidu is associated with the YSRCP, he said, adding, “We have no connection with Nutan Naidu and action will be taken against him if his involvement is proved in the incident.”
The MLA said the YSRCP and the state government will provide a financial assistance of Rs. 50,000, a house site, and a job to the Dalit youth. Mr. Raju also said that action will be taken against anyone who commits such crimes irrespective of their party, caste, and religion.
The MLA also slammed the TDP chief, Chandrababu Naidu, for shedding crocodile tears for the Dalits and reminded him of the Dalit woman who was beaten and stripped at the Jerripothulapalem area in Pendurthi during the TDP rule. He said Pawan Kalyan was silent over the issue because Nutan Naidu is a close associate of the actor's family.
