Data : One in 100 people in AP underwent Covid-19 test

Vijayawada: The number of tests conducted per million in Andhra Pradesh crossed 10,000-mark and stood at 10,048 on Saturday. This means one in every 100 person in the state is being tested and so far 5,36,570 samples were tested in the state.

On the other hand, Andhra Pradesh reported the highest single-day spike in Covid-19 cases so far on Saturday as 222 new positive cases were reported, taking the total cases to 5,858 in the state.

The Covid-19 death toll increased to 82 in Andhra Pradesh with two persons succumbing to the infection on Saturday. The two deaths were reported from Krishna district.On Saturday, 222 positive cases were recorded while 218 cases was the highest single-day spike in the state so far. The previous highest number of cases was 218 on June 10, 216 on June 9, 210 cases on June 6 and 180 cases on June 3.

As many as 94 patients, including 51 people who returned from other states and one foreign returnee, recovered from the infection and were discharged from the hospitals in the state in the last 24 hours.

There are currently 2,591 active Covid-19 cases in Andhra Pradesh while 3,185 people recovered from the virus and got discharged from the hospitals in the state.

On the Covid-19 toll front, Kurnool district reported 28 Covid-19 deaths followed by Krishna district which reported 27 deaths and Guntur district 9 deaths.

While Anantapur district reported 5 deaths, four deaths each were recorded in Nellore, East Godavari and Chittoor districts. Vizag district reported only one Covid-19 death.

So far, two districts -- Vizianagaram, Srikakulam in North Andhra, Prakasam and West Godavari district and Kadapa district haven’t reported any Covid-19 deaths
