Daughter of IAS officer P. Subrahmanyam who died in 2009 helicopter crash appointed Deputy collector

Hyderabad: P. Sindhu Subrahmanyam, the daughter of IAS officer P. Subrahmanyam who was among those killed in the 2009 helicopter crash, has been appointed probationary deputy collector (PDC) on compassionate grounds.

The then Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S Rajashekhara Reddy had also been killed in the same crash.

Ms Sindhu Subrahmanyam has been appointed the PDC of Krishna district. The government order dated 29 May stated that she will have to undergo training for 72 weeks. “The candidate will draw basic pay of the post of the deputy collector in the scale of pay mentioned, along with usual allowances…the said post automatically stand lapsed the moment the public servant concerned is relieved to assume charge in a regular post,” the order said.

In 2009, the then- Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S Rajasekhara Reddy, special secretary P. Subramanyam, chief security officer A.S.C Wesley, pilot group captain S.K Bhatia, and co-pilot M.S Reddy were killed when their helicopter crash-landed atop the Rudrakonda hill in the Nallamalla range. In 2012, Subrahmanyam's family had alleged that they had not received any support or recognition from the state government, including the monthly pension.
