Defence employee crushed to death under Traffic Crane in Secunderabad

Hyderabad: In a fatal road mishap in Gopalpuram police station limits, a pillion rider, Velpula Sai Lakshmi, working as a clerk at the office of the Controller Of Defence Accounts, Secunderabad, came under the rear tyres of a traffic towing vehicle and died on the spot on Wednesday.

While the towing vehicle staff of Gopalpuram Traffic police were shifting a damaged car from Naivedyam Hotel, Bhoiguda, to the Traffic PS, Gopalpuram, a two-wheeler rider, with an unknown vehicle registration number, tried to overtake the towing vehicle from the left side. Suddenly, the pillion rider lost her balance and fell down and came under the rear wheels of the Traffic Crane. She sustained head injuries and died on the spot.

The driver of Kinetic Honda fled the spot after the accident. DCP Traffic L.S. Chowhan and Additional DCP A. Bhaskar visited the scene of the accident.

Gopalpuram Traffic Crane (No. TS-05-EZ-1612) went to Naivedyam Hotel, Bhoiguda, to shift one Hero Honda car which was abandoned due to a road accident that occurred on Tuesday night to facilitate the free flow of traffic.

Gopalpuram Traffic police informed about the incident to Gopalpuram police and efforts are on to nab the absconding two-wheeler driver.

Additional Commissioner of Police, Traffic, Hyderabad, Anil Kumar, in a press release, urged citizens not to overtake vehicles from the wrong side and also not to drive without a helmet and in a negligent manner. The Hyderabad Traffic police once again requested all commuters to follow traffic rules for not just their safety, but for that of others too.
