Dont panic or leave, Govt will provide food, shelter : KCR to migrant workers

Hyderabad : Telangana Chief Minister K ChandraShekar Rao has appealed to the migrants workers not to panic but remain in the state during the lockdown period.

Calling migrant workers as family who have served in building of the state, KCR said, “ You (referring to workers) are our family, equal stakeholders in building Telangana, It is the government's responsibility in taking care of you. Do not leave, government will provide food and stay. Each family will be allocated with 12 kgs of ration. Besides this, a family of four will be given Rs 2000 for their well being. Workers, irrespective to which state you belong to, need not panic or leave.'

Referring to the revenue losses incurred by the state government on account of the lockdown, he said the state has suffered a loss of around Rs. 12,000 crores this month with no taxes and GST collection. He said the financial situation has turned so grim that paying salaries for staff this month would be difficult. "We may have to pay salaries in installments if the situation demands. We may also have to stop salaries for MLAs/ MLCs. We will review the financial condition soon before taking a final decision on the payment of salaries. This is a crisis. Everyone has to come forward to bear problems that have come up due to the Corona situation," the CM said.

He assured farmers that the government will purchase the entire paddy and maize crops by giving MSP for farmers and said there is no need to panic. "We have allotted nearly Rs. 30,000 crore to civil supplies corporation and Markfed even in these difficult financial conditions to ensure MSP for farmers. We require around 75 lakh gunny bags to procure food grains from farmers of which around 35 lakh are currently available," KCR said.
