Hyderabad: The slueths of Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) seized several bags of Cannabis/Ganja loaded in a lorry carrying ‘Paddy Husk’ at Pedda Amberpet Toll plaza, Outer Ring Road, the outskirts of Hyderabad on Monday.

The Hyderabad Zonal unit intercepted a Goods carraige heavy motor vehicle (Lorry) and detailed examination of cargo revealed that a total of 1335.4 kgs of Ganja, whose approximate value in the grey market is Rs 2 Crore, was found to be concealed in the lorry.

On further investigation, it was revealed that a fake registration number was pasted on top of the actual registration number of the vehicle in order to avoid detection. The driver along with an associate also stated that the Ganja was loaded near Bhadrachalam and that the Ganja was being transported to Bidar. The duo were arrested under the provisions of the NDPS (Narcotics, Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act) 1985. Further investigation is in progress.

Cannabis/ganja is a Narcotic Drug covered under the NDPS Act, 1985.
