DRI sleuths seize ganja worth Rs 3.10 cr in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: Sleuths of Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI), working on specific intelligence inputs that narcotics were being illegally transported, swung into action and intercepted an Eicher truck and a Verna car near LB Nagar crossroads here on Saturday.

On inspection, it was found out that the vehicle was loaded with empty crates underneath which were bags from where strong odour was emanating.

Those on the truck confessed that they were carrying 751 packets of ganja. The contraband was sourced in Mothugudem village and delivered at Bhadrachalam from where they were loaded on to the Eicher truck and was headed for Bidar.

The seized ganja, weighing 1554 kgs, is valued at Rs 3,10,81,400. Those taken into custody included two drivers, the truck owner, two ganja cultivators and a supplier. Further investigation is in progress.
