Drug companies manufacturing hydroxychloroquine get a nod from PCB

Hyderabad: In the wake of Covid-19 pandemic, the Telangana State Pollution Control Board (PCB) has decided to issue clearances fast for drug companies manufacturing life-saving drugs like hydroxychloroquine.
In a statement issued here on Saturday, the PCB authorities said that several existing bulk drug and drug intermediate manufacturing industries in Telangana had come forward to manufacture hydroxychloroquine and other life-saving bulk drugs or its intermediates to meet the global demand. Considering the coronavirus
pandemic, the PCB has considered drug manufacturing as a priority activity. The Board said that it was necessary to expedite the process of issuance of consent / permissions to the industries planning to manufacture hydroxychloroquine and other life saving bulk drugs or its intermediates.
Further, the Pollution Board has called for proposals from existing bulk drugs / drug Intermediate manufacturing industries for change of products along with Comparative Pollution Loads Statement, Material
Balance for the proposed products and Certificate of the Environmental Auditor. The proposals can be sent to cee-tspcb@telangana.gov.in / tspcbseeunit2@gmail.com marking a copy to the concerned regional
officer of the Board.
