East Godavari: A 28-year-old man tested positive for COVID-19 on 23 July, hours before his wedding at Kothapeta village in East Godavari, Andhra Pradesh.
The man was set to marry his girlfriend from Villakaru village in the district on Saturday. On Tuesday, the groom's family and relatives had gathered to attend an event. In the evening, the man complained of fever and headache. He got tested for COVID-19 the same day.
On Thursday, while the groom's family was making arrangements for the wedding, medical and health officials told them he had tested positive for COVID-19. The groom was then shifted to a quarantine center in Bommuluru.
The officials said the man and his family had visited Rajahmundry for shopping and he might have contracted the virus then. They said over 30 to 40 people have visited the groom's house in preparation for the wedding. They will have to undergo COVID-19 tests, they added. Meanwhile, the wedding was postponed and several other family members advised to stay under home quarantine.
