Eight arrested for circulating obscene videos of Guntur BTech student on Instagram

Guntur: The Guntur cyber police have arrested all eight men involved in the circulation of obscene videos of a BTech student on Instagram and a porn website.

On 27 June, the district police had arrested the main accused Kinnera Varun Tej, the son of two Andhra Pradesh cops. According to the police, Varun had been in a relationship with the girl three years ago. One day, he took her to his flat and sedated here. While she was unconscious, he took obscene photos and videos of the victim. She later deleted the videos from his phone but he managed to recover the deleted videos.

Later, he forwarded those videos to Avula Koushik who, at the time, was in a relationship with the victim. Koushik uploaded the video to a porn site and forwarded screenshots of the same to Radha Krishna, who in turn informed the girl's sister about the videos. At the request of the victim and her sister, Varun and Koushik took down the videos from the website.

Meanwhile, Koushik had forwarded the video to his friend Bhaskar Vivekananda, who then shared it with Dhanunjaya Reddy who sent it to Manikantha, Kranthi, and Tulasi Krishna. Manikantha created an Instagram account 'Nenu420' and forwarded the video to the victim. He and Dhanunjaya demanded she send nude photos. Finally, they demanded she pay Rs. 50,000.

On 17 June, the victim approached the police of the Pattabhipuram station. “We have arrested all the eight accused who were involved in the case and booked them under various sections of POCSO and the IT Act. Further investigation is on,” DSP Sitaramaiah told NewsMeter.

Varun and Koushik were arrested on 28 June and the others on 6 July.
