Hyderabad: A church pastor was duped to the tune of Rs 10 lakh, by a former air hostess. The incident took place in Moinabad, which is on the outskirts of Hyderabad in Telangana.

Former air hostess Kanishka and her husband Vijay Kumar, own a hotel at Gachibowli in Hyderabad. But, for the past one-year business was low and Vijaya Kumar had incurred losses amounting to Rs 2 crores. While he was working on options to recover from the losses, his wife Kanishka in an attempt to pull her husband from the financial crisis came out with a plan.

According to the plan, Kanishka approached a church pastor at Moinabad and sought prayer support for her health. Kanishka visited the pastor frequently for prayers. On winning his trust, Kanishka explained to the pastor that her husband's hotel is in the process of getting a contract from the KFC food chain. However, they are falling short of Rs 10 lakh. On her request, the pastor lent her Rs 10 lakh as hand loan for a few months.

Days later, Kanishka informed the pastor that they won the contract and that the KFC representatives were coming to a resort on the outskirts of the city to sign the agreement. She asked the pastor to be present for the process.

At the resort, after consuming a fruit juice that Kanishka had offered, the pastor fell unconscious. When he woke the next day at the resort, he found himself in a bathtub in a semi-naked condition. As he tried to climb out of the bathtub, a man holding a pistol threatened him and forcefully took his signatures. He clicked pictures of the pastor in the bathtub and warned the pastor not to inform anyone about the incident.

However, the pastor approached the police. Based on the evidence given by the pastor, the police arrested the couple. A toy pistol, an SUV car and other material were seized from them.
