EX-BJP MLA tested COVID +Ve in Hyderabad, admitted to private hospital

Hyderabad : A former Bharatiya Janata Party MLA has been tested positive for COVID-19. The ex-legislator, who was involved in the 'feed the needy' social activity, developed cough on May 31st. As a precautionary measure, the man underwent a test on Sunday, at a Corporate hospital in Jubilee Hills. The medical reports revealed he was COVID positive.

Speaking to NewsMeter, a close aide of the MLA said,"The MLA has no domestic or international travel history, nor is a primary or secondary contact of a COVID patient. He has been engaged in many social activities, including 'feed the needy'. The last distribution program was held on May 24th at Jubilee hills".

He further added, The MLA's health condition is stable. The family including wife, son and daughter-in-law have been moved to the hospital, where they will undergo testing.

Meanwhile, Telangana recorded 199 new cases of COVID-19 on May 31, revealed the state’s daily health bulletin. Out of the 199 new cases, three persons are migrants, while the rest of the patients are local, reported from within the state.

With this, the total number of local COVID-19 cases in the state has reached 2,264. On the other hand, the total number of foreign returnees, migrants and deported citizens who have tested positive for the virus have reached 434. Telangana is soon to cross 2,700 COVID cases reported in the state in total. Telangana has earlier witnessed a spike in COVID cases on May 29, with 169 new cases reported on the day.
