US President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump are going to visit India on 24 and 25 February. They will visit New Delhi and Ahmedabad, where they will participate in a grand event 'Namaste President Trump'. Amidst all this, many social media users are sharing a video of fruit carts being destroyed by cranes in Ahmedabad where arrangements for Namaste President Trump are going on at full speed.
A Twitter user posted the video on the micro-blogging site and wrote. "Don't the poor have a right to live in this country under @narendramodi?? Look how #Ahemdabad is getting ready to welcome @realDonaldTrump @vijayrupanibjp is this part of #GujaratModel? (sic)"
A longer version of this video is also going viral on Facebook. "Share it to expose the Hipocracy of BJP. Just for a Trump visit of 2 days look what sort of Shameful act being unleashed on Poor's. A state where this Shamless CM buy 190Crs luxury plane for himself from taxpayers money. Don't the poor have a right to live in this country under @narendramodi?? Look how #Ahemdabad is getting ready to welcome @realDonaldTrump. @vijayrupanibjp is this part of #GujaratModel?" one user wrote.
The Newsmeter team extracted several keyframes from the video using Invid tool and performed a reverse image search on Google and Yandex. Though the Google search was not successful, the search in Yandex fetched results that showed images from a Youtube video from Odisha Bartta TV. The video was uploaded by the channel on 30 January, 2020.
A search using keywords "fruit cart eviction Bhubaneswar" showed results from the same video that was uploaded by another news channel from Odisha, OTV. The video was uploaded on 25 January, 2020. This video is more than three-minutes long and had a detailed visual of the event. Although the angles of both the videos are different, we were able to match some keyframes from the viral video with that of the video uploaded by OTV. We found two matching shots. One of a man pushing the carts towards the crane and another of a person walking by in a police uniform with an emblem on his arm.
The emblem matched the emblem of the Odisha police.
Hence, the claim that this video is from Ahmedabad, Gujarat, is FALSE. This video is from Odisha and this incident occurred in January 2020.
