Fact check: Woman in viral video is neither nurse nor district collector of Kudagu

Hyderabad: A video of people touching the feet of a young girl is going viral on social media. Users claim that she was a Nurse in Trivandrum Medical College, who completed IAS, and has been posted as District Collector in Kudagu. Because of her nursing experience, she could help people in Kudagu district to beat Covid. She is getting a special honor from the people of Kodagu.

This video has been shared on YouTube and WhatsApp also with the same narrative.

Archive links can be found here, here and here.

Fact Check:

The claim that she was a nurse at Trivandrum Medical College who became the Collector of Kudagu is FALSE.

When we searched the keyframe extracted from the video using Google Reverse Image Search, we found a video shared on YouTube on March 5, 2020 with the title 'GRAND WELCOME DIAMOND LEADER SAFE SHOP MS NAZIA MADAM'

Using the keywords 'Nazia Begum Safe shop diamond leader', we found several videos related to her. In the below video too, we can see people welcoming her in the same manner as the viral video.

Here are the other videos where Nazia Begum can be seen.

The safe shop is a Multilevel Marketing company based in Hyderabad. Though the company has no website, we found a Facebook page on this name.

The same video was viral at the beginning of October describing the lady in the video to be Hathras victim. It was debunked by several fact-checking organizations like The Quint, Factly, Boomlive.

Therefore, the woman seen in the video is NOT a nurse or collector from Kodagu. She is Naziya Begum working for a company 'Safe Shop' based in Hyderabad. The claim is FALSE.
