Fact Check: Did Aysha Renna tweet celebrating the Pulwama attack?

Hyderabad: After Jamia Millia University students Ladeeda Farzana and Aysha Renna became the face of anti-Citizenship Act protests, they have received applauses as well as criticisms from all corners. Recently, a few users posted a screenshot of an alleged tweet shared by Aysha Renna, celebrating the Pulwama attack.

"Shame on @ayesha_reena and @BDUTT for supporting such terrorists. @ladeedafarzana (sic)," posted one such user.

Even prominent author Shefali Vaidya shared the screenshot, adding, "You have to be a special kind of loathsome shameless to be @BDUTT and brazenly defend the Hindu and India hating Jamia girls who GLOATED on the death of our soldiers in the Pulwama attack! (sic)"

Many netizens have shared the same in Facebook as well.

Fact Check

The screenshot is false, as the name of the Jamia student protestor Aysha Renna, not Ayesha Reena and the original Twitter handle is @AyshaRenna. Aysha shared this particular screenshot and clarified that it is a false post.

The fake twitter handle @ayesha_reena has been on Twitter since October 2018. Majority of its tweets belong to Jammu and Kashmir, which hints that someone from J&K is using the account.

Hence, the claim that Aysha Renna has posted a tweet celebrating Pulwama attack is FALSE.
