Family on pilgrimage hits truck, 6 dead, including 2 children

Visakhapatnam : Six people, including two children, from a family, died on the spot when the SUV, in which they were travelling, collided with a lorry near Nallajerla in West Godavari on Friday. Five others suffered severe injuries in the same accident.

The West Godavari police informed that the family, from Pendurthi area in Visakhapatnam, were travelling in the SUV towards Tirupathi for the darshan of Lord Sri Balaji. The driver lost control over the vehicle and collided with the lorry on the NH 16 stretch near Nallajerla.

The deceased were identified as Tammana Neelakantha Rao (55), Tammana Lakshmi (50), Palukuru Appala Raju (35), Ekkala Ramakrishna (45), Ekkala Tanuja (3) and Palukuri Gnaneswar (8 months). The five injured — Tammana Manikantha, Ekkala Ramadevi, Palukuri Yaswin, Ekkala Reshma, and Palukuri Neelima — are undergoing treatment in Government Hospital at Tadepalligudem. The condition of two persons are said to be critical.
