Filipino woman develops labour pain on flight; Pilot makes emergency landing at RGIA

Hyderabad: The pilot of a flight from Dubai to Manila made an emergency landing on Saturday at Hyderabad International Airport as a Filipino woman developed labour pains. After the flight landed at the airport, the woman was rushed to a medical facility, where she delivered a male child the officials said.

The 26-year-old woman Mananieta Baby Jean Ledesma, holding a passport number P 6731544A, was flying from Dubai to Manila on board a Cebu Pacific Airlines flight no 5J15. While the plane was passing through the Indian air space, she complained of labour pains.

After taking a clearance from the Air Traffic Control(ATC) of Rajiv Gandhi International Airport on medical grounds, the flight with a total of 325 passengers on board, made an emergency landing.

Immediately after the landing, she was rushed to the Apollo hospital at the airport, where she delivered a male child. Hospital authorities said the condition of the mother and child are healthy and are monitored
