Hyderabad: Major fire broke out at IIIT in Basara, Nirmal district, Telangana, on Sunday morning. However, a mishap has been averted as the students were away from the institution due to lockdown. Fire personnel and police rushed to the spot and started fire containment measures.

According to official sources, fire originated from AB1 classroom in the academic block of the institution. Furniture, including tables, an LCD projector and chairs were completely damaged in the fire. Fire tenders rushed to the spot and prevented fire from being spread to other parts of the institution.

While a shirt circuit in the classroom is suspected to be the cause of the fire, investigation is underway to establish the cause.
