•  No casualties; kitchen gutted

Hyderabad: A huge fire broke out at Boondi Kitchen in Tirumala temple in Chittoor District. But there were no casualties or injuries, according to preliminary reports.

People witnessed huge smokes coming out of the Boondi kitchen even as the temple staff informed the fire officers.

Fire personnel rushed to the spot and pressed into service two fire-tenders to douse the fire. As the fire spread to a larger area, the officers are trying their best to douse the fire.

Although, there were no injuries, the kitchen has been damaged and ingredients required for making the laddoo gutted. The extent of damage is yet to be ascertained.

The last such incident happened at the kitchen 18 months back. TTD officials had taken preventive measures since then so that such incidents would not result in any deaths. However, doubts are being raised at how such incidents are recurring despite preventive measures to check fires.
