Visakhapatnam: A COVID- 19 relapse case was reported in Vizag of Andhra Pradesh on Saturday. A youngster of Vizag city who was tested COVID-19 positive on April 3 and was cured from the virus on April 24, had been re- infected with the virus on Saturday.

The Medical and Family Welfare department officials said that probably it was the first case of COVID-19 reinfection in Andhra Pradesh and he might have reinfected the virus from his 20-month-old son.

The youngster came to Vizag city in March and he was tested COVID-19 positive on April 3. His wife was tested COVID-19 positive later.

A few days ago, the youngster’s son was also tested COVID-19 positive. The officials also conducted tests on the family members of the youngster and the youngster was found COVID-19 positive on Saturday.

The officials are suspecting that the youngster might have acquired the virus from his son. The officials also said that the recovered people may get infected with the virus again.
