First domestic flight with 76 passengers lands at Vijayawada Airport

Vijayawada: Post lockdown, the first domestic flight with 76 passengers from Bengaluru landed at Vijayawada Airport on Tuesday morning.

This is for the first time since March 23 that any domestic flight has landed at Vijayawada airport.

Spicejet flight from Bengaluru with 76 passengers landed at the airport early Tuesday morning. The flight later took off for Bengaluru at 7.40 am with 68 passengers on board.

Vijayawada Airport Authority said that four flights (Vijayawada-Bengaluru, Vijayawada-Chennai, Vijayawada-Bengaluru and Delhi-Vijayawada) are expected to operate from the Airport on Tuesday.

Vizag Airport Director said that the first flight Vizag-Bengaluru took off from the Vizag Airport on Tuesday morning. He said that four flights (Vizag-Bengaluru, Vizag-Hyderabad, and Vizag-Delhi) are expected to operate from the Airport on Tuesday.

Andhra Pradesh government has set new guidelines for fliers. The fliers landing at Vizag and Vijayawada Airports from the Covid-19 states and cities including Mumbai, Chennai, Delhi, Gujarat, and Rajasthan must undergo seven-days of institutional quarantine (Paid and Free) in Andhra Pradesh. Others will have to complete a mandatory 14-day home-quarantine.

The AP government said that all the air passengers will have to enroll on the Spandana website (spandana.ap.gov.in) and secure a clearance before buying tickets. Only those who have clearance will be allowed to book tickets.

Airport Authority India officials said that the passengers have to reach the airport two hours ahead of the scheduled departure of the flight. They have to maintain social distancing and sanitization protocol. All fliers have been asked to install the Aarogya Setu application on their mobile phones. They can only bring two pieces of luggage.

All the flyers would be screened at the airports for symptoms. Symptomatic persons would have to undergo institutional quarantine where they would be tested on arrival once and again after seven days. If tested negative for the second test they would be put under home quarantine for seven days. Asymptomatic passengers would be considered in two categories based on the place they board the flight to Andhra Pradesh
