Five members pose as CBI officials; threatens and steals gold and money

Hyderabad: Taking a leaf out of Bollywood movies Special 26, a five-member team threatened and robbed a numerologist in Ameerpet. Following Akshay Kumar’s strategy from the film, the group posed as CBI officials stole gold jewellery and cash.

The scamsters threatened the victim, saying that he had obscene videos of several women in his laptop and looted him. Before leaving the premises, they also took away with the Digital Video Recorder (DVR) of the CCTV network at the place. SR Nagar police solved the mystery in less than 24 hours and arrested the fake CBI officials on Wednesday.

P Pruthvi had earlier worked for the victim KV Jagadeesh Babu, but the former was not paid his salary. Meanwhile, a female employee under Jagadeesh had lodged a sexual harassment complaint. Jagadeesh paid a significant amount to settle outside the court. Later, it was compounded by Lok Adalat as well. In the entire process, Pruthvi played a vital role in striking a deal between the woman and Jagadeesh. As a result, Jagadeesh promised to clear Pruthvi’s dues. However, after the issue was settled, Jagadeesh started avoiding Pruthvi, due to which he wanted to take revenge. Pruthvi planned and executed the operation along with his co-conspirators, who run an NGO against corruption.
