Four of family fined for taking selfie on Durgam Cheruvu Cable Bridge

Hyderabad: A family was challaned for taking a selfie on Durgam Cheruvu Bridge on Wednesday.

Four members of a family on two-wheelers had stopped to take selfies on the bridge. Cyberabad Traffic police alerted the family after observing them through Surveillance Camera Monitoring Center (SCMC).

The video which was shared by Cyberabad Traffic Police on social media on Wednesday went viral. The video shows how the man in the video was trying to hide his vehicle's number plate. Despite several efforts to hide the number plate, the family was challaned for not wearing a helmet, willfully withholding the vehicle information, triple riding, and stopping on the carriageway.

A fine of Rs 2,315 was slapped on the family. This is not the first time when the biker was challaned. Earlier, he was challaned for wrong parking and not wearing a helmet.

According to Cyberabad traffic police, the rider stopped his bike on the Durgam Cheruvu Cable Bridge carriageway before CCTV cameras and covered his number plate to avoid challans while taking selfies.

He was alerted through the Public address system and they left the spot. By sharing the video on social media the Cyberabad cops wanted to create awareness among the other citizens to avoid such traffic violations on the Cable Bridge.

Meanwhile, A 24-year-old youth was killed when he rammed his motorcycle into an intersection on the busy Durgam Cheruvu flyover on October 18.

Identified as Krishna Yadav, 24, he was travelling on the flyover starting at Road No. 45 when he met with an accident.

Krishna Yadav, a cab driver by profession, has become the first person to have been killed in an accident on the flyover since it was opened for traffic last month.

“Because of over speeding, he hit the intersection on the bridge. He died on the spot,” said P Ravindra Prasad, SHO, Madhapur.
