Free bus rides for women in Delhi this Raksha Bandhan

Keeping up to the spirit of Raksha Bandhan, the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) will allow women passengers to travel for free on the DTC buses this festive day i.e. August 15 which is also Independence Day.

The free travel facility will be available in the AC and non-AC buses of the DTC City and NCR buses from 8 am to 10 pm.

Keeping in mind the rush because of Independence Day and rakhi, DTC will deploy a maximum number of buses to cater to the rush. In addition, a large number of traffic supervisory staff will be deputed at the peak points for the convenience of commuters. For buses terminating at the Red Fort, Jama Masjid and Delhi railway station, they will either be diverted or curtailed.

Like every year, there will be traffic restrictions in the capital for Independence Day. Delhi Traffic Police has issued traffic advisory which says that Netaji Subhash Marg, Lothian Road, S.P Mukherjee Marg, Chandni Chowk Road, Nishad Raj Marg, Esplanade Road, its Link Road, and Ring Road from Rajghat to Y-Point-Hanuman Setu will not be open for use by the general public between 4 am and 10 am on August 15.
