Gas cylinder explosion triggers panic in Jubilee Hills

Hyderabad: Panic gripped densely populated Jubilee Hills area after an LPG cylinder exploded in a vacant house at Jawahar Nagar on Wednesday night.
However, there were no fatalities or injuries in the incident. Wednesday being Ugadi holiday and lockdown, people were inside their homes when the blast occurred
Fire tenders immediately rushed to the spot and doused the flames. Jubilee Hills police also reached the spot and brought the situation under control.
The blast occurred in a vacant house at Jawahar Nagar. Preliminary investigations reveal that the house occupants had left due to the lockdown. It is suspected that the knob of the gas cylinder was not properly turned off and with the result, it caught fire and exploded with a big bang.
ACP Banjara Hills KS Rao said the detailed probe will be conducted to know the exact cause of the mishap.
