GHMC gears up for 52 FoBs, 8 skyways

Hyderabad: Pedestrians from the twin cities can breathe easy. The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has cleared a proposal for taking up 52-foot overbridges (FoBs) and 52 skyways against an investment of Rs232.08 crore.

The civic body will be taking up the proposal in four phases and has issued orders on one package comprising Secunderabad and Khairatabad zones. GHMC is also gearing up for beginning works on the third package also. As part of the package works in phase-1, 16 FoBs and four skyways will be constructed. GHMC has completed the tender process for the proposal, said an official.

The skyways have been designed as an innovative circular, rectangle and triangle shapes and will come up above main circles. Although, proposed 18 months back, there was no headway owing to fund crunch. .

Package-1: 11 FoBs will be taken up at the cost of Rs 27.18 crore. Chakripuram X roads, Nagaram village in LB Nagar zone, Ramanthapur HPS, Mallapur Noma Function Hall, AS Rao Nagar, Sai Sudheer College bus stop, Ramanthapur Vishal Mart, Habsiguda SBI, Vanasthalipuram Sushma Theatre, Dilsukhnagar bus stop, Kothapet fruit market, Saroor Nagar Stadium and Hayat Nagar Word and Deed School.

Skyway at a cost of Rs12.96 crore is earmarked near Uppal ring road.

The works under package-3 include 16 FoBs at the cost of Rs52.3 crore and four skyways at Rs27.1 crore cost.

The four skyways will be at Lakdi-ka-pool, Banjara Hills Road No: 12, RTC X road, Chilakalaguda ring road (escalator).

Package-2: 11 FoBs at Rs 11.9 crore skyway at Aramghar.

Package-4: 14 FoBs at Rs 47.35crore and two skyways. Two skyways costing Rs 18.2 crore to come up at Suchitra junction (escalator) and Boinpalli (2 escalators).
