GHMC identified 545 dilapidated structures, 187 demolished

Hyderabad: After identifying a total of 545 dilapidated structures, GHMC has demolished 187 structures and 127 structures heaven repaired or vacated.

“As part of regular activity in the monsoon season, action on dilapidated structures is being taken to protect and safeguard the life of the citizens. We conducted a survey and identified the dilapidated structures in all Circles of GHMC and taken further action to forward the same to the Engineering Wing for a report on Structural Stability,” said GHMC Commissioner.

During the last seven days, 59 dilapidated structures have been demolished, and 33 dilapidated structures have been vacated, shifting 140 inmates living in these dilapidated structures.

GHMC also said that the special drive for action on dilapidated structures is being continued. In case of most dangerous structures advance precautionary measures would be taken such as vacating of inmates, sealing of building, barricading around the structure and display notice cautioning public not to move around the structure.

GHMC also said that given forecast of heavy rains in next 2-3 days, the citizens living in dilapidated structures are requested to vacate the building voluntarily to protect their lives from the danger of collapse and cooperate with GHMC in taking further action. The Citizens are also requested to come forward and inform if any dilapidated structure is in danger.

On October 18, nine circles and 56 inspected main roads has been inspected, where construction and demolition waste has been identified in locations, and in 25 locations C&D Waste is lifted and shifted to designated centre by the Contractor.
