GHMC raids illegal slaughter house, a tonne of beef confiscated
By Newsmeter Network Published on 2 Oct 2019 3:56 PM GMTHyderabad: On the occasion of Gandhi Jayanthi, a GHMC veterinary doctor and other officials raided an illegal slaughterhouse located behind Star Gardens in Alinagar. According to the Mylardevpally police, about a tonne of illegally slaughtered beef was confiscated. It rendered unfit for food by applying phenol and was handed over to Carcass Utilization Centre (CUC).
A criminal case has been booked against Farooq Ali, the owner of the slaughterhouse. The case has been registered under various sections of the AP Prohibition of Cow slaughtering Act 1977, the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act 1950, and the Transport of Animals Act.
Dr Ashok Kumar, the GHMC veterinary doctor, said, “We conducted the raid because the slaughterhouse was running without proper permissions. We followed proper measures while conducting the raids and lodged a complaint with Mylardevpally police station. We have confiscated a tonne of illegally slaughtered beef.”
