GODAVARI BOAT MISHAP: Kin of dead siblings wait for bodies in Vizag

Vizag: Distressed parents and family members of the siblings T Geetha Vaishnavi (3) and T Ananya (18 months) are anxious waiting to receive the dead bodies of the two children.

The siblings from Vizag among others had gone missing after the Royal Vasishta Boat capsized in River Godavari on Sunday last in of East Godavari district.

Parents of the siblings, T Appala Raju and T Bhagya Lakshmi told that they lost hopes on the safe return of their children and are also gradually losing hopes on the receive the bodies of the two girls.

Appala Raju and Bhagya Lakshmi were seen in deep grief at their residence, ASR Nagar of Arilova in Vizag city. The couple have been waiting for any communication on whereabouts of their children with wet eyes.

“I am the most unlucky person in the world as I lost my two daughters in boat Godavari boat mishap. I am doubtful over to see my daughters’ face one last time”, said Bhaya Lakshmi.

Geetha Vaishnavi and T Ananya along with her grandmother T Appalanarsamma went for the Papikondalu trip and the trio died in the tragedy. The rescue teams retrieved the body of Appalanarsamma but they failed to retrieve the dead bodies of the siblings.

District Revenue Officer, Vizag, M Sridevi said that out of 17 persons who have gone missing (deed) from Vizag, the bodies of 12 people were traced so far and the search is on for trace the remaining five children, including the siblings.

On the other end, uncertainty continues over the number of tourists on the Royal Vasishta boat.

Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Vakul Jindal said that 77 tourists were travelling in the boat that capsized in Godavari. Of the 77 persons, 26 survived, resume teams has retrieved 35 bodies and 16 were still missing.

However, the TDP leaders led by MLA N Chinarajappa visited East Godavari and YSR Congress government has been giving different versions and false figures on the numbers of persons on the board.

The police said that the search and rescue operations continue till the retrieve of all the dead bodies.
