Amaravati, Sept 15: Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has announced Rs 10 lakh immediate relief to the families of deceased in Godavari boat tragedy. The minister who ordered an inquiry into the incident has also directed the East Godavari district Collector and other Officials to hurry the rescue operations. CM also ordered the officials to take the help of NDRF(National Disaster Response Force) teams, besides pressing into service Navy and ONGC helicopters in the rescue operations.
Jagan has instructed all the available Ministers in the district to visit the incident site and supervise the rescue work.
All boat services in the East Godavari region are suspeded with immediate effect according to the CM's order. An order has also been to investigate the viability of boat transportation services in the region.
Jagan also asked the officials to check for the licence of the boats and if adequate training was given to the staff or not. He also asked the officials to check if the boats have precautionary measures or not. The Chief Minister asked for a complete report on the incident and asked to release safety guidelines prepared by an experts committee.
