Group attacks director RGVs Jubilee Hills home following Power Star controversy

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad police detained a group of people on 23 July after they allegedly attacked the residence of filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma at Jubilee Hills.

RGV tweeted about the incident. “P k fans claiming to be janasena members attacked my office and they have been thrown out into the lockup by my guards and Cops. I want to kiss and make love to them for giving me more publicity for POWER STAR (sic),” the director wrote.

The incident comes after the trailer of RGV's new movie ‘Power Star' was leaked online. The film has already sparked controversy as Tollywood star and Janasena leader Pawan Kalyan is fondly called "power star". The director, however, has denied that the movie is based on the actor-politician. Some celebrities have started a war against the director on Twitter.

Later, RGV told the media that a group of people had gathered outside his house to meet him. His staff had allowed them inside but they had created a ruckus. He denied the allegation that he had invited the group to meet him.

The group had reportedly come to his residence after the director, in a recent interview, had said that anybody can come to meet him. RGV, however, said he had not invited anyone.
