Gully Boy is India’s official entry for Oscars

Hyderabad: Makers of ‘Gully Boy’ are on cloud nine, as the film has got an official entry to Oscars. Yes. It is true. The film directed by Zoya Akhtar has been selected as India’s official entry in the International Feature Film category at the 92nd Academy Awards, the Film Federation of India announced on Saturday.

This is big news for all the fans of the film. Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt who play the lead roles in ‘Gully Boy’ have given their career’s best performance. Ranveer plays a rapper from the slums of Mumbai. All he wants to do is make it big and become a famous rapper.

Actress Alia Bhatt after hearing the news took to Twitter to thank everyone who stood by her side and supported her through thick and thin.

She wrote, “We are so thrilled that #GullyBoy has been selected as India’s official entry to the 92nd Academy Awards in the Best International Feature Film category. Thankyou Film Federation of India, Aparna Sen, Supran Sen, Anindya Dasgupta, mebers of the jury and a big congratulations to our spectacular cast and crew (sic).”

Ranveer also wrote the same adding, “Apna Time Aayega! (sic).”

Many Bollywood actors tweeted congratulating ‘Gully’ Boy team including Ranveer, Alia, Kalki, Siddharth Chaturvedi. The ‘Gully Boy’ team received congratulation messages on various social media platforms from across India.

Bhartendhu Sharma
