Srinagar: While Ministry of Home Affairs sounded terror threat to Amarnath Yatra a gunfight broke out between security agencies and terrorists in Pandoshan of Shopian in Kashmir on Friday. One terrorist was killed and a soldier laid down his life during the operation Pandoshan launched to neutralise the armed terrorists in the valley.
Northern Command of Indian Army said, "One terrorist killed. Weapons and warlike stores recovered. Joint operation in progress,"
Chinar Corps of Indian Army said the terrorist has been identified as Zeenat-ul-Islam resident of Memender, Shopian. The soldier who martyred in the crossfire has been identified as Sep Rambhir.

In a joint press conference, Chinar Corps Commander Lt General K J S Dhillon and J&K DGP Dilbag Singh told reporters on Friday, "We received specific inputs of attempts by Pakistan and Pak Army backed terrorists to disrupt Amarnath Yatra. Thorough searches of both routes were conducted and during searches, we recovered Improvised Explosive Devices, sniper rifle and Pak Army Anti-Personnel Mines".

J&K DGP Dilbag Singh told reporters on Friday, "We received specific inputs of attempts by Pakistan and Pak Army backed terrorists to disrupt Amarnath Yatra. Thorough searches of both routes were conducted and during searches, we recovered Improvised Explosive Devices, sniper rifle and Pak Army Anti-Personnel Mines".




They further added, "Troops were deployed for several months needed a break and�a turnover was due. Our request for additional troops was sent to the Ministry of Home Affairs much before. But, considering the threat perception, we need to maintain a high level of force deployment. "Situation on LoC under control &peaceful for now. Infiltration bids from POK are made regularly.�In the hinterland, terrorist leadership our main target, many got killed and process on"�
The duo added "Threat of Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) has increased. After Pulwama, more attempts of IED attacks were made. Recently, we eliminated an IED expert terrorist from Pakistan, Munna Lahori" -�
They appealed to Kashmiri mothers " Listen to this carefully, 83% of local�terrorists were once stone pelters. So, if your son is throwing stones on Forces today for Rs 500, then he is tomorrow's terrorists. "7% of them die in 10 days, 9% in 1 month, 17% in 3 months, 36% in 6 months & 64% in one year. If�parents don’t stop their son from pelting stones, chances are he will be eliminated in 1 year of picking up gun"�
Earlier on Friday Jammu and Kashmir government home department has issued a security advisory on the threat to Amarnath Yatra.


"Keeping in view the latest intelligence inputs of terror threats, with specific targeting of the Amarnath Yatra and given the prevailing security situation in the Kashmir valley in the interest and safety and security of tourists and Amarnath Yatris, it is advised that they may curtail their stay in the valley immediately and take necessary measures to return as soon as possible"
Around 280 companies of security forces are being deployed in the valley and an IAF fighter jet was seen guarding the skies.
Intelligence inputs revealed that five terrorists of Jaish E Mohammed infiltrated into the valley.
